My art revolves around curiosity, color, nature, and the pursuit of focusing my eyes on gratitude, grace and beauty. I love the surprise of things, when they don't look perfect, when they don't obviously "go", but then they bring interest to things.
"To my mind a picture should be something pleasant, cheerful, and pretty. There are too many unpleasant things in life as it is without creating still more of them."
. ~Pierre-Auguste Renior
When I think about the footprints we leave behind on this world, the greatest ones are the ones we leave with our families. I am a wife, Mother, and grandmother of 3 so far!
I have a long history of attempting "fun" things. I've grown 3 acres of lavender, had weddings in my back yard, Paint and travel with a great group of friends for 12+ years. we have an air bnb. We travel regularly. I also help people buy homes which is rewarding.
Art is a very personal thing. People like art with a message, without a message, for the color, to match the decor, to remind them of a thing or place or a person, to disturb or to calm, to surprise or to disappear, to impress, or for investment. Surprisingly, some people do not care about art at all. It has no value to them.
Art has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I lived in Santa Fe, NM as a child and my mother loved art which is odd, as I don't think anyone in her family ever had an art piece.
I love most art and can appreciate almost all art whether I'd want it on my wall or not. My art collection is truly eclectic and if I love it, I find a place for it.
However, I am not an artist with a message. I paint for relaxation, for the process, for the joy and the beauty. I paint for the happy accidents, the non-stressful mental challenge (about 2000 decisions in the average painting), the play of colors, the beauty of stoke, the excitement when it comes together (and it doesn't always) the joy when someone parts with their hard earned dollars for something I created. I do not take that lightly.
